A lot of this has to do with how its scene developed separately from the larger fighting game community, and how nothing else really plays like it. Super Smash Bros. is built on a somewhat Kirby -esque approach to platforming, combined with a system of normal moves, special moves, grabs, and smash attacks. The high-flying, mobility-oriented combat is like nothing else the fighting genre has seen, perhaps exhibiting more explosive moments per match than any other sub-genre. The all-star roster of crossover Nintendo characters, which has slowly expanded to include fighters from across the games industry, is the cherry on

At this point, their entire marketing campaign for the game is based around the similarities to the Smash franchise anyway, so maybe they should just double down on it and include Nickelodeon off-brand Smash Bros reference characters in their already-quite-large roster.

Incorporating them into the game would be an interesting challenge. Maybe they could appear as one slot on the roster, simple palette swaps of each other? Maybe one of the Action League members could be chosen as the series' representation for the game. Regardless, a callback to one of modern animation’s more unconventional super-teams deserves a spot in the cast.
